Grand Opening: New Emerging Media Lab Space

We are now only one week away from the grand opening of the Emerging Media Lab’s new space in Irving K. Barber Learning Centre, happening on Tuesday, March 26th, 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m!   Through collaborations amongst UBC IT, UBC Library, and the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology, there is now a more public and accessible space for EML in the heart of campus for all who are interested in emerging media technology.  In celebration of this grand opening, EML invites you to experience eight of our VR/AR experiences and to come to our panel discussion featuring four of our faculty members who use emerging technologies to enhance student education.
Our panel features:
  • Moderator Kathryn Gretsinger from the Graduate School of Journalism 
  • Dr. Claudia Krebs from the Faculty of Medicine, principal investigator for Holobrain and Pocket Pelvis
  • Dr. Matthew Yedlin from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, principal investigator for Math World and Jupyter.
  • Dr. Patrick Pennefather from the Department of Theatre and Film and assistant professor at the Centre for Digital Media.
